Organizer

European Dog Show 2026 is organized by the Central Board of the Swedish Kennel Club, with the support of the staff from the Swedish Kennel Club's headquarters.

Dog Shows in Sweden are typically organized by clubs affiliated with the Swedish Kennel Club, SKK. However, European Dog Show 2026 is unique in that it is not hosted by a club in the traditional sense, but rather by SKK’s Central Board.

Swedish Kennel Club

The Swedish Kennel Club was founded in 1889 by a group of noblemen and hunters with the aim of preserving the qualities of good hunting dogs. Breeding healthy purebred dogs is still a central part of our mission, but today we have grown into an association for all dog owners. With almost 300,000 memberships, we are now one of Sweden's largest leisure organizations. Today, we work extensively to promote the role of dogs in society and to educate people about the joy and benefits of owning a dog.

600 Dog Shows Annually

The organization includes 24 county clubs, each hosting one or more major shows every year. In addition, various specialty and breed clubs, as well as local kennel clubs, organize both large and small-scale shows. In total, nearly 600 dog shows are held annually in Sweden, drawing over 120,000 dogs to compete. All of this work is carried out on a voluntary basis by members of the clubs.
